Use your mobile to call 0800 numbers for free - Mobile 2 Freephone

0800 numbers are a fantastic range if you're a UK wide company and want to allow your customers to call you for free from their landline. However, as we've mentioned in previous blogs, they're a pain in the bum if you're calling from a mobile and can end up being very expensive.

Paying silly charges

The cost to call 08 numbers from mobiles are expected to be reduced over the next couple of years. I did some research before writing this blog, to see what the cost per minute was over the different networks and found you could be paying up to 40p per minute to call an 0800 or 0808 "Freephone" number. Most operators have slightly reduced their costs since we launched the service in March 2011, but even the lowest cost was still 14p per minute.

Avoiding these silly charges

So how can you avoid paying these high costs? By using our Mobile 2 Freephone service of course! Just follow the steps below:

1. Dial the number 01600 700 800
2. Enter the Freephone number that you want to call
3. Press the # key

After this the call will connect as normal. Mobile 2 Freephone works with 0800 and 0808 numbers (but not any other 08 numbers I'm afraid) and will enable you to call these numbers at a landline rate. This means if you get inclusive minutes on your call plan it won't cost you a penny.
