Ofcom update: Ofcom confirms mobile termination rates for next four years
Ofcom have finally announced the plan for scaling mobile termination rates down over the next 4 years. This is big news, as most can appreciate, the mobile termination rates have long been disproportionate to the termination rates for landlines.
It has to be said that there has been a reduction in these rates in the last year, but what we’ve also seen is ‘flip-flopping’ in rates between weekdays and weekends. Thankfully Ofcom are also addressing this with fixed caps on rates.
The only negative that’s coming out of this announcement is that the timescale, 4 years, is twice as long as the European Commission’s recommendation.
